Everything you need to know before your visit to El Poco Cantina.
Birria is a traditional Mexican dish originating from Jalisco, made by slow-braising beef (or sometimes goat) in a rich mixture of dried chiles, aromatics, and spices for several hours until meltingly tender. The braising liquid becomes the consomé — a deeply flavored dipping broth that accompanies the tacos. At El Poco, we use beef birria and prepare it fresh every day.
Michelin Selected is a recognition from the Michelin Guide — one of the world's most respected restaurant authorities — for restaurants that consistently serve quality food and offer an enjoyable dining experience. El Poco Cantina was recognized in the Michelin Guide Philippines 2026, the first Michelin Guide ever published for the Philippines. We are proud to be among the first restaurants in the country to receive this recognition.
No reservation is needed. El Poco Cantina is a walk-in friendly cantina. We welcome everyone first-come, first-served. During peak hours (lunch and dinner), there may be a short wait — but the food is absolutely worth it. We recommend arriving a bit early during weekends and holidays.
Both branches serve the same El Poco menu and quality. Our Taft-Malate branch (945 Estrada St.) is open 7 days a week from 10AM to 10PM, making it great for lunch, merienda, and dinner. Our Recto branch (Pinagpala Bldg, C.M. Recto) is open Monday through Saturday, 11AM to 8PM — ideal for the UBELT university belt crowd. Visit whichever is closest to you!
Yes, El Poco Cantina is available on major food delivery platforms operating in Manila. However, we always recommend dining in for the full experience — the fresh tacos, the warm consomé, and the vibe of the cantina are best enjoyed in-person. Check our Instagram @elpococantina for the most current delivery platform listings.
For catering and event inquiries, please send us a message via the form on this page or reach out through our Facebook page at facebook.com/elpococantina. Our team will get back to you to discuss availability, minimum orders, and other details. We'd love to bring the El Poco experience to your next event.
We do offer a veggie burrito with grilled vegetables, beans, rice, guacamole, and crema — no meat, no beef broth. Our quesadillas can also be made cheese-only. Please let our crew know about any allergies when you order, and they'll do their best to accommodate. Note that our kitchen handles beef and dairy products.
